Today I rearranged my family photos and frog collection and some colors using crystal glass, blue glass, the frogs are mostly green tones. I feel so lucky to have these shelves. They are so much fun to play around with. So many ways they could be re-imagined.
Yesterday I made an emotional plea to San Francisco to save me from all my dreams fantasies and imaginings of a life in a well appointed cottage on no higher then the 3rd floor of a dwelling in upper Castro or perhaps Cow Hollow. Anywhere a unicorn such as myself would feel at home.
In my last post I wrote about the quest for finding my dream apartment (in San Francisco) even though I already live in a rad pad, which gets more rad with each transformation).
But with only so many hours in the day for designing, blogging, cleaning, puppy training, reading, sewing, I mean there needs to be five of me just to get all of this done. That's why San Francisco makes more sense. I should live there. Because I would think better while sipping a coffee and eating a lemon pie from Tartine (or a banana cream). I'd get a lot more done because it's cooler up there and while I love summer in the desert the heat makes it feel like a never ending vacation everyday and what do people do on vacation? They look for a pool and they postpone washing the car because you know that's just not a high priority.
I haven't given up on finding a dream home in San Francisco. Today I am asking the universe to lower the rent by $1,500 (for me). I am a Venus ruled sign and just want to live my creative life in peace is that asking too much?
Oh well. If it's not meant to be I can always just live in the sunshine in a bikini, work on my tan reading Hemingway (who I do not really comprehend but I try) and work at perfecting those pink grapefruit margaritas. I really need to buy a blender for that.
I guess I should get back to the topic of mid century shelves now. Okay so then below.....
Below is an example of mid century (built in) shelves. This example is exactly how my childhood bedroom wall was built. With a large vertical window in the center, vertical shelves on both sides. I remember constantly decorating and rearranging my shelves with toys and found objects.
About the photo below it's from Beau Arts Mansion in St. Louis. Speaking of mansions. I'm in the market for a cottage size mansion in San Francisco. Hey San Francisco, can you reduce the rent in upper Castro or Cow Hollow (for me) by around $1,500? I could be up there right now offering my expert design services to the tired out Silicon Valley elite who need a Unicorn like me to transform boring into rad. I need a quaint 1 bedroom (with a full kitchen) and a bathtub is a must. Close to Bi-rite would be awesome and sunny windows much appreciated. No higher then 3rd floor please as 3 is as high as i want to be in a dwelling.

See that coffee table there? It cost over 2 thousand. Just letting you know. I would rather hack the basic idea and maybe find something similar made of a nice extra white wicker.
